The Steller Construction team continues to follow the latest kitchen design trends so that we can bring fresh ideas to our clients. We always get excited to help bring client’s visions to life while suggesting even more ways to make that vision truly spectacular. Here are some of the top kitchen trends we see continuing into 2023 for the central Ohio home market.
Customized Islands
The kitchen island is getting bigger and more functional. A well-designed island can contain enough seating for the entire family, allowing you to remove the need for a separate kitchen table. This also allows you to maximize your kitchen storage options.
We are installing more islands with built-in trash cans, wine fridges, microwave drawers and extra cabinets on both sides. Pull-out drawers and lift stands for large mixers help maximize the function of the island too.
Layered Lighting & Statement Lights
Under cabinet LED lighting continues to be a staple in the kitchen along with pendants that make a statement above the island. Don’t forget to add additional task lighting above the sink and other key areas. Above cabinet LEDs also gives a great finished look to the space and adds depth.
Custom Range Hoods
With the introduction of microwave drawers, the opportunity to create more visually stunning range hoods has grown in popularity. There are lots of options from prefabricated metal hoods in various finishes to custom millwork hoods. Adding an aesthetically pleasing hood breaks up the angular lines of all the kitchen cabinets and can give you a chance to showcase some beautiful tile work as well.
Color Contrast
To create a more visually interesting kitchen design, opting for two different colors of cabinetry is always a hit. The best way to achieve this look is to choose a colored cabinet for your island. The trend of white cabinetry will continue for the outer cabinets but inject some fun into the space with island colors such as blue, green, yellow, or even orange! You can tie your island colors into the rest of the kitchen by choosing a complimentary colored backsplash tile.
